POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Technician is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness, safety, and visual appeal of the venue's facility systems, catering equipment, and structural assets. This multifaceted role blends proactive preventative maintenance—such as precision lubrication, routine overhauls, and rigorous inspections—with rapid diagnostic troubleshooting and high-quality emergency repairs. Operating behind the scenes to support seamless event execution, the mechanic manages shop inventory, procures parts, and meticulously documents all work orders. Collaborating closely with leadership, this role balances technical expertise in facility infrastructure (plumbing, electrical, drywall) with operational agility, scheduling maintenance windows to minimize disruptions and adapting to the dynamic needs of a live venue environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preventative Maintenance: Conducts routine inspections and preventative maintenance services on venue facility systems and catering equipment to ensure optimal operational readiness.
  • Equipment Servicing & Overhauls: Thoroughly cleans, deconstructs, repairs, and reinstalls equipment components as necessary to maximize lifespan and efficiency.
  • Precision Lubrication: Properly oils and lubricates machinery and moving parts to guarantee smooth, effective performance and prevent premature wear.
  • Inspection Logging: Meticulously records and reports any damaged, worn, or malfunctioning equipment, infrastructure, or venue assets.
  • Parts Procurement & Installation: Sources, orders, and installs replacement parts for venue fixtures, machinery, and catering equipment.
  • Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnoses and identifies the root causes of unexpected equipment breakdowns or facility issues.
  • Emergency & General Repairs: Performs efficient, high-quality repairs on broken machinery, venue infrastructure (drywall, paint, plumbing, electrical), and catering assets (bars, dollies, chairs, tables).
  • Work Documentation: Prepares clear, accurate reports documenting completed work orders, maintenance logs, and repairs performed.
  • Shop & Inventory Management: Cleans, organizes, stocks, and inventories shop areas, ensuring tools, parts, and maintenance supplies are readily available and safely stored.
  • Maintenance Scheduling: Coordinates closely with management to schedule regular and preventative maintenance windows that minimize disruption to venue operations.
  • Operational Collaboration: Partners with leadership regarding the introduction of new venue equipment or assets, evaluating potential installation and modification needs.
  • Testing & Modifications: Executes necessary equipment modifications, conducts rigorous test runs, and collaborates with management on results to implement further adjustments as needed.
  • Adaptive Venue Support: Performs other related duties and event-driven maintenance tasks as assigned to ensure seamless venue operations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in commercial facility maintenance, industrial mechanics, or a skilled trade (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or commercial kitchen/catering equipment repair).
  • Environment: Proven experience working efficiently in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments; hospitality or live-venue maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Literacy: Basic to intermediate proficiency with digital tools, including Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or digital work-order platforms, and basic communication tools (Google Workspace or Microsoft Office).
  • Equipment Familiarity: Experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial catering/kitchen equipment, refrigeration units, or commercial plumbing and electrical systems is highly preferred.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, equipment schematics, and technical manuals.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND COMPETENCIES

  • Certifications (Preferred but not required): Universal EPA Certification (for HVAC/Refrigeration) or relevant trade school certifications/licenses (Electrical, Plumbing) are a major plus.
  • Technical Aptitude: Mechanically inclined with advanced diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural).
  • Collaboration & Independence: Ability to work highly autonomously with minimal supervision, while maintaining strong collaborative communication with venue management and event staff.
  • Organization & Detail: Meticulous attention to detail regarding safety protocols (e.g., Lockout/Tagout), inspection logging, and maintaining an organized, safe tool shop.
  • Physical & Mental Resilience: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy machinery/parts (typically up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and perform under pressure during live event or operational emergencies.

SCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY

  • Hourly position with expectation of 40 to 50 hours per week
  • Overtime as scheduled based on event calendar
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays are required due to industry demands
  • Fully in person position, not remote

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
