Facilities Technician

Johnson Service Group, has an immediate opportunity for a Facilities Technician for a Biotech research organization in San Diego.

Direct Hire | Onsite | Pay rate:  $34 - $37 per hour

Summary: We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of facility mechanical and utility systems within a laboratory/manufacturing environment.

This role will assist with building maintenance, equipment checks, troubleshooting, repairs, and coordination with outside contractors and service providers.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine facility inspections and daily equipment/system checks.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of HVAC and chiller systems, vacuum pumps, compressed air, electrical systems, boilers, fume hoods, and other facility utilities.
• Perform minor electrical, plumbing, drywall, and general building repairs.
• Troubleshoot facility and equipment issues and escalate as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for maintenance, repairs, calibration, and facility improvements.
• Support preventive maintenance activities and maintain required documentation.
• Order replacement parts and supplies as needed.
• Assist with moving equipment and furniture.
• Communicate planned maintenance, equipment shutdowns, and operational issues to appropriate teams.
• Follow cGMP, EH&S, safety, and facility procedures.
• Participate in emergency/on-call facility support as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3+ years of facilities maintenance or building maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience with general electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building repairs.
• Experience with HVAC, chillers, boilers, compressed air, vacuum systems, or similar facility equipment preferred.
• Experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, manufacturing, or other regulated environment is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and work within cGMP requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with internal teams, contractors, and service providers.
• Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding and work on rooftop equipment.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures.
• Ability to work in laboratory environments and wear required PPE.
