Location: Wood River, IL, USA Description: Magnolia Marine Transport is seeking a Wood River Facility Assistant Manager to support facility operations, marine coordination, safety compliance, and customer service in the Wood River area. This position works closely with the Facility Manager and serves as operational backup to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant vessel, barge, and tankering activities. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational judgment, regulatory awareness, and the ability to act decisively in high-risk marine and oil transfer environments.

Wood River Facility Assistant Manager Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent • Valid drivers license • Valid TWIC card • Strong communication and organizational skills • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities • Ability to supervise personnel and coordinate cross-functional operations • Willingness to travel occasionally and stay overnight as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
• U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential and/or Tankerman PIC endorsement • Mechanical experience in marine industrial or operational environments • Experience supporting USCG or SIRE inspections • Familiarity with marine fleet operations and tankering activities
Wood River Facility Assistant Manager Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight & Marine Coordination:
• Coordinate barge traffic and support daily facility operations in the Wood River area • Monitor barges in the mooring area and oversee cargo heater operations • Provide onsite supervision during barge top-offs and other high-risk oil movement activities • Perform routine fleet and barge inspections
Tankering & Cargo Operations:
• Ensure all cargo transfers involving company vessels comply with applicable regulations and company procedures • Perform cargo transfers when necessary if shore tankerman are unavailable • Conduct tankerman audits and support oil movement reporting and invoicing • Assist Port Captains with loading draft assignments
Repairs & Maintenance Coordination:
• Perform minor topside repairs not requiring mechanical support • Coordinate vessel and barge repairs with engineering teams • Oversee repair activities within the Wood River operational area
Safety Compliance & Inspections:
• Serve as Facility Security Officer (FSO) • Represent the company during USCG and customer inspections • Support SIRE inspections in coordination with the Vetting Department • Track document and report safety trends and nonconformities • Serve as company representative during emergency situations
Proactively identify operational risks and take action to prevent incidents.
Leadership & Communication:
• Supervise and coordinate Shore Tankerman activities • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external customers • Communicate clearly and professionally across in-person, phone, and written channels • Anticipate operational challenges and take ownership through resolution
