Facility Class A Driver

Summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a Facility Class A Driver responsible for safely transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste from customer and Company locations to Clean Harbors facilities or approved disposal sites. This position ensures compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT), RCRA, OSHA, hazardous waste, and Company safety requirements.

Schedule: 3:00 PM-11:30 PM

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License required.

  • Hazardous Materials endorsement required.

  • Minimum of one year of hazardous materials transportation experience.

  • Must meet Company driving record requirements, including:

  • No more than two moving violations within the past three years.

  • No DUI or DWI within the past three years.

  • No preventable accidents within the past year.

  • No more than two preventable accidents within the past three years.

  • No serious moving violations within the past three years.

  • Ability to complete required 40-hour OSHA, new-driver, DOT/RCRA, and equipment-specific training.

  • Ability to operate a mobile computer and maintain accurate electronic records.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to make real-time decisions in the field.

  • Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.

  • Ability and willingness to travel more than 75%.

  • Ability to operate vehicles with automatic and standard transmissions.

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including:

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

  • Moving drums weighing up to 800 pounds using a drum dolly.

  • Moving flex bins weighing up to 1,500 pounds using a pallet jack.

  • Frequently bending, climbing, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.

  • Climbing ladders up to four feet high.

  • Opening truck hoods and climbing underneath trucks to complete inspections.

  • Reaching overhead to close doors and change placards.

  • Must be able to safely work in loud environments and hear machinery, vehicle alarms, and other warning sounds.

Responsibilities

  • Follow assigned routes for scheduled pickups and deliveries.
  • Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Ensure drums and other containers are properly segregated, secured, and transported.
  • Follow vehicle weight requirements and properly use Company equipment.
  • Properly placard vehicles according to Company and DOT regulations.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, worksheets, timecards, expense reports, dispatch reports, trip reports, and vehicle inspection records.
  • Communicate regularly with Coordinators regarding daily schedules, delays, and demurrage.
  • Inspect, maintain, and clean assigned Company vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure assigned equipment remains mechanically sound and in safe working condition.
  • Maintain all required DOT, OSHA, RCRA, and Company training records.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous service to internal and external customers.
  • Follow all Company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
