General Nature of Work
Under general supervision, keeps the new Parks and Recreation Center interiors clean and orderly. Performs a variety of custodial and minor building maintenance duties as assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs custodial tasks including: • Emptying waste receptacles • Washing interior and exterior windows and walls • Cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies • Maintains floor surfaces including stripping, waxing, sealing, and carpet extraction • Prepares room and facility setup for meetings, sports functions, and private rentals • Provides assistance with issues that arise as a result of such functions • May provide general maintenance and minor plumbing, electrical, and building repairs • Provides maintenance of gymnasium equipment and floors • Works with supervisor to keep supplies stocked as needed • Conducts inspections of buildings and grounds periodically during work schedule to determine cleaning, repairs, and maintenance needed • Reports to supervisor any major work needed • Follows appropriate procedures for disposing of hazardous materials and conforms to city guidelines • Assists in the transportation and setting up of recreation equipment for special events • Provides monthly checks on all security lights and repairs/replaces as needed • Interacts with all City Departments to meet the needs for cleaning setups and maintenance and performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Data Utilization Requires the ability to compile, assemble, copy, record, and/or transcribe data according to a prescribed schema or plan. Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics are similar to or divergent from prescribed standards, procedures, or routines.
• Human Interaction Requires the ability to exchange information for the purpose of clarifying details within well-established policies, procedures, and standards.
• Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization Requires the ability to start, stop, operate, and monitor the functioning of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
• Verbal Aptitude Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information.
• Mathematical Aptitude Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. May include counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring.
• Functional Reasoning Requires the ability to carry out detailed but routine written or oral instructions. Involves routine work according to clearly prescribed standard practices with some latitude for independent judgment.
• Situational Reasoning Requires the ability to exercise judgment in situations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered by well-established procedures or sequences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED, six months of related experience, possess a valid GA Drivers License, knowledge of tools, materials, working practices, and methods of custodial maintenance, knowledge of safe working methods and procedures, skill in the use of various hand tools, custodial, and building maintenance equipment, skill in the safe and lawful operation of a motor vehicle, ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, ability to plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule, ability to utilize physical strength and agility sufficient to perform cleaning and building maintenance tasks, ability to listen well and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various audiences, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, management, other agencies, and the general public. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Physical Requirements
Tasks require the ability to exert moderate though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, odors, wetness, fumes, hazardous materials, heights, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, disease, or rudeirate customers.
