    Description

    Job Summary
     
    The Facility/EHS Engineer is responsible for managing facility systems, ensuring environmental, health, and safety compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within an electronics manufacturing environment. This position oversees facility maintenance, utility systems, environmental programs, workplace safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance to create a safe, efficient, and sustainable manufacturing operation. Engineer must balance responsibilities between facilities, EHS and capital-project.


     
    Core Responsibilities
     
    • Facility Management
      • Manage and maintain facility infrastructure, including HVAC, compressed air systems, electrical distribution systems, water systems, fire protection systems, and building equipment.
      • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime and facility reliability.
      • Support facility expansions, equipment installations, and capital improvement projects.
      • Monitor utility consumption facility and implement energy-saving initiatives.
      • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers to ensure quality and compliance with company standards.
      • Develop and maintain facility maintenance procedures, schedules, and records.
      • On-call support, including evening/weekend frequency, backup support and 4 hrs. response time.
    • Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
      • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and company environmental, health, and safety regulations.
      • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
      • Coordinate the facility and EHS components of emergency-response and business-continuity planning.
      • Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
      • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis for accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
      • Manage hazardous materials, waste disposal programs, and chemical handling processes.
      • Maintain permits, licenses, and regulatory reporting requirements.
      • Coordinate emergency response plans, evacuation drills, and business continuity activities.
      • Provide safety training and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
      • Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems where applicable.
      • Authority to stop work or restrict access when an imminent safety, environmental or facility risk exists.
    • Continuous Improvement
      • Analyze safety, environmental, and facility performance metrics.
      • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance workplace safety.
      • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
      • Develop corrective and preventive actions to address EHS and facility-related issues.
    • Documentation and Compliance
      • Maintain accurate records of inspections, permits, training, incidents, and maintenance activities.
      • Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
      • Support internal and external audits and inspections.
      • Ensure compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.


        Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in facilities engineering, EHS, or manufacturing operations.
    • Knowledge of occupational safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
    • Experience managing facility utility systems and maintenance programs.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
       
      Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in electronics, PCB, EMS, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
    • Professional certifications such as:
      • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
      • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
      • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
      • OSHA Certifications
    • Knowledge of:
      • ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
      • ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Systems
      • NFPA Standards
      • OSHA Regulations
      • EPA Environmental Regulations
    • Experience with cleanroom operations and ESD-controlled environments.
    • Lean Six Sigma certification or continuous improvement experience.

    Working Conditions
     
    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to walk throughout manufacturing and warehouse areas regularly.
    • Ability to climb ladders and access rooftop or equipment areas when required.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (25 kg) occasionally.
    • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • May work around machinery, chemicals, and utility systems.
       
      Work Environment
    • Electronics manufacturing facility and office environment.
    • Exposure to production areas, utility rooms, maintenance activities, and occasional construction projects.
    • Participation in on-call support for facility emergencies may be required.
    • Occasional travel for training, audits, or regulatory meetings.
