The Division of Student Affairs provides opportunities that foster safety, affirmation, and belonging while supporting the academic, artistic, and holistic development of every student, as they strive to achieve their potential as student-artists in their global community. UNCSA's student body consists of 500+ commuter and 700+ residential high school and college students.
Within the Division, the area of Student Affairs Operations provides on-going maintenance and on-call support for 420+ residential college and 200+ residential high school students.
Primary Description of Work
This position is responsible for conducting preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance and repairs within UNCSA's on-campus residential facilities, which house students ranging in age from early teens to late twenties. The employee applies technical expertise across multiple building systems-HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical-while maintaining an awareness of the unique operational, safety, and developmental considerations present in residential student living environments.
Working both independently and as part of a broader facilities and housing team, this role ensures the functionality, comfort, and safety of student spaces by adhering to institutional standards, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer specifications. The employee is expected to respond to service requests in a timely, professional, and student-centered manner, in alignment with the mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs and the Housing Department.
This position also provides consultation and technical support to UNCSA Facilities Management staff and outsourced contractors, contributing to a coordinated and efficient approach to campus maintenance. The employee is expected to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement in customer service delivery and facilities support.

Description of Responsibilities and Duties
Facilities Maintenance (Primary Function)
Supports the operation, safety, and long-term reliability of university residential facilities by performing skilled maintenance and repair duties across mechanical trades.
This position provides comprehensive facilities maintenance for UNCSA's residential communities, including the college residence hall (Artist Village), high school residence halls (Moore and Sanford Halls), and campus apartments (Center Stage Apartments).
Customer Service
Supports a student-centered, responsive, and solutions-oriented approach to facilities maintenance in UNCSA residential communities.
Safety Compliance and Preventive Maintenance
Ensures the health, safety, and operational continuity of residential facilities by performing preventive maintenance and adhering to applicable safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
If no applicants apply who meet the required competency level and training and experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants. Salary would be determined based on competencies, equity, budget, and market considerations.
