About this position

The Facilities/Maintenance Engineer performs maintenance engineering assignments for the Hospital in areas of HVAC, high and low-pressure boilers, chillers, piping, plumbing, electrical and fire protection. Performs general maintenance duties. Actively and consistently demonstrates the mission, vision, values and guiding principles of Maple Grove Hospital.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Building Maintenance program with HVAC training preferred.

Experience

• Must have 3+ years' experience with one or more of the following: building maintenance and operations, HVAC service, or boiler and chiller plant operations. The 3+ years of experience is preferred in a healthcare setting.
• Strong mechanical aptitudes, and a working knowledge of boilers, chillers, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills and ability to define problems, and resolve them quickly.
• Familiar with local building codes and OSHA regulations.
• Solid PC skills to include preventative maintenance software, MS applications, Internet, etc.
• Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information (both in written and oral form), clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict in a positive manner. Has an awareness of, responds to, and considers the needs, feelings and capabilities of others.
• Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English. • Building automation systems knowledge.
• Electrical and electromechanical systems knowledge.
• Plumbing knowledge.

Licensure/Certification

• State of MN Boilers License or obtained within 6 months from date of hire.
• CFC/EPA certification or obtain certification within one year from the date of hire.
• Valid class D driver's license in state of residency with acceptable driving record to operate hospital vehicles.

Hours per two week pay period: 80

Shift: Day/Evening/Night 8 hours

Weekend Requirement: Weekends by Department Rotation

Salary Range: S22 ($31.88 - $47.82), based on experience

Shift Differential: Compensation may include shift differential pay depending on the position and shift worked.
