Description of Work
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
This position is located at Bertie correctional Institution. The purpose of this position is supervision and coordination of maintenance of the physical plant, ensuring the facility is maintained in a safe and efficient manner. This position will be assigned to the maintenance section of a major correctional institution and will report directly to the facility Maintenance Manager. This position requires extensive maintenance trades supervision experience. Individual must deal with the variety of maintenance tasks that are requires on a routine basis. Position will directly supervise a large group pf maintenance personnel, assigned and review work performed, assist with administration of comprehensive preventative maintenance program and reports of personnel, equipment, work performed inventories. This position will serve as backup for the Facility Maintenance Manager in his/her absence. Provide training to subordinate staff to maintain appropriate skill level and workplace safety. Maintains direct contact with the Facility Maintenance Manager. Provides information in a timely and proper manner. Participates in facility inspections as required.

Salary Range is $52,592 - $92,036

Documented working knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance.
Documented knowledge of the tools, equipment and material used in the building and mechanical
trades.

About the Division of Institutions:
The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four (4) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades including one (1) year of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
