HJ Staffing a reliable, hands-on Facility Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep of campus facilities and grounds for our client. This role handles general maintenance, minor repairs, and preventive upkeep across plumbing, electrical, and light carpentry systems — helping keep buildings safe, functional, and welcoming for the entire campus community.
Position Summary
This is a general maintenance position responsible for the upkeep, minor repair, and maintenance of plumbing fixtures and electrical devices/appliances throughout campus facilities and immediate grounds. Some minor carpentry work is also required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves, and related devices
- Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of electrical fixtures, devices, and appliances
- Complete minor carpentry work to repair windows, doors, hardware, screens, and furniture
- Deliver exemplary customer service to internal and external customers
- Observe and report defects, deterioration, or wear and tear on facilities via the work order system
- Assist in coordinating major repairs, painting, and facility setup within scheduled timeframes
- Communicate with administrative staff regarding event-related furnishing needs and other special requests
- Conduct routine inspections of all buildings and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly
- Collaborate with tradespeople and custodial staff on day-to-day duties and responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 5 years of related maintenance experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across a diverse community
- Excellent prioritization skills and adaptability to changing situations
- Strong oral and written communication skills; able to read and interpret operating manuals, technical procedures, and maintenance instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and campus community
- Beginner-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
- Familiarity with email systems such as Outlook or Lotus Notes
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
