Position Details\n \nPosition Information\n \nPosting Number 2026516 Position Title Facility Maintenance Technician Position # #9000005 FLSA Non-Exempt Classification Type Labor/Maintenance/Technical Department Facility Services Job Type Full Time Work Schedule\n \nMonday-Friday; 7am-3:30pm\n \nHiring Pay Rate $20.00-$25.00/hour (depending on qualifications) Posting Opening Date 03/09/2026 Posting Closing Date Job Summary\n \nUnder general supervision, performs semi-skilled to skilled routine daily tasks in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City of Bryan buildings and park facilities.\n \nEssential Job Functions\n\n Performs maintenance, diagnostic, and repairs on equipment in buildings as needed.\n Performs carpentry work in the installation/renovation/construction of cabinets, shelves, trim work, desks, furnishings, and other facility equipment as needed.\n Installs, maintains, and/or repairs flooring, ceilings, sheetrock, doors, windows, and other building structures as needed.\n Applies finishes, including but not limited to paint and stain, to various surfaces.\n Installs and repairs locks.\n Performs maintenance on overhead door hardware and operators.\n Assists other maintenance technicians as needed; provides instruction, training, and guidance to new and/or less experienced maintenance technicians.\n Performs all work in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards of quality and safety.\n Inspects jobs upon completion and ensures areas are clean; cleans and maintains shop area and equipment.\n Assists in the maintenance of parks\n Sets up and tears down materials and equipment for special events.\n Maintains accurate and complete work records.\n Adheres to after-hours, weekend, and holiday standby requirements as needed.\n Performs related duties as required.\n Responds regularly and promptly to work.\n \nMinimum Qualifications\n\n High School Diploma or GED.\n Must possess at least three (3) years of experience in the general construction trade(s) and/or building maintenance.\n \nEquivalent combinations of education, experience, certification, and training may be considered.\n \nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\n \nKnowledge of:\n\n The methods, materials, practices, and techniques used in building maintenance, construction, and repair.\n \nAbility to:\n\n Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.\n Learn job-related procedures and techniques, primarily through verbal instruction, observation, and on-the-job training.\n Safely and efficiently operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and materials used in performing essential functions.\n Inspect buildings and equipment to locate conditions needing repair.\n Enter, record, and/or maintain documentation of work performed.\n Perform work independently based on broad instructions and general supervision.\n Perform moderate to heavy manual labor outdoors in temperature extremes for extended periods.\n Identify maintenance needs and take corrective actions.\n Be constantly alert and aware of safe working practices and workplace hazards; ability to initiate positive and appropriate corrective action in the event of a sudden accident or equipment failure.\n Comply with City and department administrative directives, policies, and procedures.\n Demonstrate satisfactory performance and a willingness to take on new responsibilities.\n Demonstrate regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.\n Provide management with sound, positive advice, and information concerning the incumbent's area of responsibility.\n Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and communicate effectively with the public and other required entities.\n \nLicenses, Certifications & Special Requirements\n\n Texas Class C driver's license with a good driving record as measured by the City's evaluation system.\n Must be able to access facilities that house Texas Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) System data. As a result, the person selected for the position cannot possess a felony or Class A misdemeanor conviction; or a Class B misdemeanor conviction within the past 10 years.\n \nPhysical Demands\n \nPhysical demands include but are not limited to: sitting, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, driving, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, crawling, climbing, and using hands and fingers to operate equipment and to lift, carry, or move objects up to 100 pounds.\n \nWorking Conditions\n \nWork is performed indoors and outdoors.
