We are seeking a skilled and dependable Facility Maintenance Technician to help maintain our Jacksonville headquarters and nearby Fleet Shop. This hands-on position plays an important role in providing a safe, clean, organized, and professional environment for our employees, customers, and visitors.
This is a scheduled, part-time daytime position offering a flexible weekday schedule based on facility and operational needs. This position is not on call and does not include supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
What You'll Do
Facility & Building Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections ("site walks") of office and shop facilities to proactively identify maintenance needs.
- Complete general building repairs, including drywall patching, interior painting, minor exterior touch-ups, small-scale tile and insulation work, and fixture installation.
- Change interior and exterior light bulbs and assist with lighting maintenance.
- Assemble, move, and install office furniture as needed.
- Complete general facility improvement projects and other maintenance tasks as assigned.
HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical Maintenance
- Replace HVAC filters and perform basic troubleshooting, including minor component replacement when appropriate.
- Complete light plumbing repairs involving faucets, toilets, urinals, and minor leak repairs.
- Troubleshoot minor electrical issues safely and coordinate specialized repairs when necessary.
- Inspect roof areas and identify potential leaks or maintenance concerns.
Exterior & Grounds Maintenance
- Maintain landscaping through mowing, edging, weed control, trimming, and blowing hardscapes.
- Clean gutters and exterior windows as needed.
- Help maintain safe, clean, and professional exterior areas.
- Identify property or grounds concerns requiring attention.
Fleet Shop & Operational Support
- Assist the Fleet and Shop teams with facility-related maintenance needs.
- Retrieve parts, materials, and supplies as needed.
- Support shop organization, cleanliness, and facility improvements.
- Complete additional maintenance projects and duties as assigned.
Role Scope
- Hands-on individual contributor position.
- No supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
- Not an on-call position.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, building maintenance, mechanical work, or a related skilled trade.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, air tools, pressure washers, and other maintenance equipment.
- General knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and professional communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, or light mechanical repair.
- Experience maintaining commercial office buildings, industrial facilities, or shop environments.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform physical work throughout the day.
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work around active shop operations, vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Travel between Petticoat-Schmitt's headquarters and nearby Fleet Shop as needed.
Employees must wear all required personal protective equipment when working in shop or operational areas.
