Summary About the Position: This position is part of the Reemployed Annuitants Cadre, in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). On an as-needed basis, employees occupying these positions provide emergency support to disaster-stricken areas throughout the United States. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1-year. At management's discretion, the appointment may be extended for up to a maximum of 3-years or converted to a term appointment for up to a maximum of 6-years. Responsibilities Plan and direct comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of Corps of Engineers facilities. Advise the staff as to the adequacy and physical condition of facilities and recommends actions considered necessary to provide organizations the facilities needed to maintain unit readiness. Maintain liaison between the Corps and agencies providing support to ensure facilities are adequately maintained. Inspect facilities to validate existing conditions, determine required maintenance and repair activities, utilization of existing assets, adequacy of contractual requirements. Provides technical advice and instruction in facility management procedures. Provide detailed cost estimates for all requested work in support of planning and programming efforts. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as One year of experience which include: Planning and directing comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities; determining operating and maintenance requirements; forecasting resource requirements, accomplishing programs; and evaluating program effectiveness through inspections, budget controls and management improvement studies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year trial period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
