Class Summary

Job Description

The Facility Program Assistant will be responsible for the maintenance of the new Dacula Park Recreation Center. The role involves performing general janitorial duties, facility maintenance, and setting up/breaking down rooms for special events, classes, rentals, and programs. This position requires the incumbent to have good communication skills and the ability to monitor activities inside and outside of the facility.

Essential Duties

  • Opening/closing of the facility
  • Overseeing work performed by inmates or volunteers
  • Performing daily/weekly/monthly checks to ensure proper maintenance of the interior and exterior of the facility
  • Submitting work orders
  • Assisting with program planning and facilitation
  • Providing administrative support by maintaining maintenance records, safety documents, and basic reports
  • Assisting customers, citizens, co-workers, and contractors with general questions and concerns regarding event/rental information and/or facility maintenance/repair
  • Assisting with programming duties by answering phone calls, processing registration fees, completing rental and program contracts, and reviewing rental documents for accuracy.
  • Cash handling responsibilities
  • Maintaining facility equipment used for sanitizing, stripping and waxing floors, changing light bulbs, and performing related maintenance
  • Maintaining and ordering related inventory of janitorial and maintenance supplies and corresponding Safety Data Sheets.
  • Assisting in programming and event planning, including logistics support, and contributing new ideas for events and activities
  • Performing all other duties as assigned

Public Speaking

  • Ongoing interaction with the public, user groups, and co-workers

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job requires a 50-pound lift test.
  • This job may require a variety of hours, and/or on-call rotation, emergency, after-hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • This job will require a background check and fingerprinting as part of the state DECAL requirement once hired.
  • Ability to use computer software to complete data entry, communicate via email, keep a calendar schedule, etc.

Grade

  • The grade for this position is B21(2). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED AND

  • Two years of facility and grounds maintenance and/or related recreation support experience

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, will also be considered.

  • Drivers License

  • CPR (within 6 months of employment)
