About the Hiring Group:

The successful intern will join RTI International's Facilities Management team of professionals.

 

 

What You'll Do:

Job Summary: Assist with installation, servicing, modification, rebuilding, and repairing of all campus facility systems and equipment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations

 

Essential Duties:

  • Assist higher level technicians on the installation, servicing, modification, rebuilding, and repairing of all campus facility systems and equipment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations Assist other technicians with performing periodic inspections to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist higher level technicians in standard maintenance programs to prevent failure of such equipment as centrifugal compressors, electrical systems, generators, fire panels, pumps, fans, plumbing systems, and heating equipment.
  • Adhere to safe work practices when lifting, climbing ladders, working in high voltage areas (logout/tagout), confined spaces, etc.
  • Comply with all Policies and Procedures, especially in the areas of burns, cutting, and electrical (Hot Works).
  • Operate service vehicles to deliver parts/supplies. Practice safe driving habits and adhere to traffic regulations.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment/tools/supplies; identify and properly use hand and power tools.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Share information and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and customers (internal and external) to include written and verbal communication.
  • Use CMMS daily to document actions performed; complete timesheet and required written reports accurately and respond to email messages.
  • Represent RTI in a professional manner in appearance and demeanor when performing job functions.
  • Demonstrate and promote ethical behavior.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties on campus or overnight campus stays such as winter storm clean up as assigned to minimize risks to the employee and campus facilities.
  • Assist higher level technicians in the service, modifying, and maintaining centralized Siemens BAS computer systems.
  • Learn how to troubleshoot and resolve problems with systems and equipment. Work with beginners to moderate technical direction from higher level facility technicians and facility specialists
  • Respond to emergency calls or emergencies by established procedures.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to obtain proper security clearances as noted by contracts.
  • Begin working on a current CFC Universal EPA license.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license

 

Physical/Mental Demands

Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above.  Examples include:  remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI; frequently moving about inside and travel between offices and laboratories; frequently conducting laboratory site inspections (if applicable), ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work between 20-30  per week as workload and deadlines may require, consistent demonstration of mental stability and ability to have regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
