Position Overview

The Facility Technician oversees the daily operations and maintenance of the manufacturing facility, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant production environment. This role manages facility system, utilities, and infrastructure while coordinating with production, maintenance, and safety teams to optimize plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

1.       Facility Operations & Maintenance:

  • Supervise the upkeep of the entire plant facility, including structural, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and compressed air systems.
  • Ensure proper functioning of production-support utilities (e.g., chillers, boilers, air compressors, water treatment systems).
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for facility equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for special repairs and services (e.g., HVAC, electrical, waste disposal).
  • Monitor system performance (pressure, flow, temperature, load) and adjust as needed.

 

2.       Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and mitigate hazards (e.g., fire safety, chemical storage, emergency exits)
  • Maintain records for environmental permits, waste disposal, and energy usage.
  • Lead emergency response efforts (e.g., power outages, spills, equipment failures)

 

3.  Team Leadership & Coordination:

  • Schedule and tasks to ensure smooth facility operations across shifts.
  • Train staff on safety procedures, equipment use, and emergency protocols.

 

  4. Cost Control & Efficiency:

  • Monitor and optimize utility consumption (electricity, water, gas) to reduce costs.
  • Implement energy-saving initiatives (e.g., LED lighting, compressed air leak repairs).
  • Manages facility-related budgets, contracts, and procurement of supplies.

 

  5. Production Support & Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams to address facility-related bottlenecks.
  • Support new equipment installation and facility modifications for production expansion.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance facility reliability.

 


Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent (required). Degree in Facility Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience: 3-5 years in facilities, plant operations, or industrial maintenance, preferably in packaging, beverage, or metal manufacturing.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. Ability to read schematics and technical drawings.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams and manage contractors.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot facility-related issues quickly.
  • Certification: OSHA, EPA, or facility management certifications (a plus).
