Duties
Provide instruction to facilitate the acquisition of vocational/technical knowledge to high school students in the area of Early Childhood Education, as well as enhancing intellectual, emotional, social and psychological growth and maturation.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated as negotiated in school board policies.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the Center.
- Prepares for assigned classes, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the administration.
- Maintains acceptable standards of student classroom behavior.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluates students' progress on a regular basis.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and Center policy.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing Center rules and Board of Control Policy.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
- Assists in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Participates in professional growth through an ongoing program of workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning as provided for in the negotiated board contract.
- Participates in any other duties as assigned by the Director.
This is a 2/3 time position teaching at a Career Center serving students from 10 different high schools in Monroe, Randolph and St. Clair Counties.
Qualifications
- Must either have a BS Degree in the appropriate discipline and a valid teaching certificate, or be eligible for a provisional or temporary provisional teaching certificate.
- Must have or be able to attain appropriate industry certification as required by the curriculum provider or other regulatory agency (if applicable).
- Must have a minimum of 2,000 hours of work experience in the specific endorsement area to be taught or as set forth in the Illinois State Board of Education requirements for instructional personnel to teach in reimbursable programs in Agricultural Education; Business, Marketing and Management; Health Occupations; Family and Consumer Science Occupations; and Industrial Technology Education.
Salary/Benefits
In addition to Board Contribution to TRS and Family Health Insurance, the salary for this position starts at $27,990.
Additional Notes
This position is part time with the hours of 8:00am to 12:50pm. There is the possibility of the position becoming full time with an enrollment increase.
Career Center of Southern Illinois serves Ten High Schools in Vocational and Alternative Education programming.
