The Factory Controller provides plant‑level financial support focused on cost accuracy, inventory integrity, and operational performance. This position ensures operational data used for product costing is accurate and reflects actual factory processes. The Factory Controller partners across the Finance function and with key Operations leaders to improve productivity and strengthen financial controls.
What You Will Do at Graco
Plant Financial Management
Deliver clear financial reports to plant and divisional leadership
Explain cost drivers and operational impacts in a clear, actionable way
Analyze manufacturing variances including PPV, usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption and scrap
Prepare concise variance explanations for monthly performance reviews
Provide financial insight that supports productivity, cost, and margin improvement
Partner with HR to ensure labor reporting, staffing changes, and workforce planning data are accurate and aligned with financial expectations
Connect operational activity to financial outcomes through clear, data‑driven analysis
Operational Cost Accuracy
Validate BOMs, routings, labor standards, overhead drivers and production reporting
Maintain disciplined change control for cost‑impacting updates
Identify and resolve data issues affecting product cost accuracy
Provide operational input supporting product costing
Inventory Integrity
Maintain inventory accuracy across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
Oversee cycle counts, including root‑cause analysis and corrective actions with Operations teams
Lead physical inventory activities to ensure compliance, documentation, and audit readiness
Validate inventory adjustments and ensure proper financial treatment
Strengthen internal controls across plant financial processes and material movement
Operational Performance & Decision Support
Analyze throughput, labor efficiency, scrap, yield, and bottleneck performance
Provide financial insight for make/buy decisions, capital requests, and margin improvement initiatives
Partner with Operations to improve productivity and reduce waste
Support operational leaders with clear, actionable financial analysis
Cost Roll Support
Review standards, BOM/routing updates, and overhead assumptions prepared by centralized Accounting
Validate alignment between cost model assumptions and actual factory processes
Identify required updates driven by operational or process changes
Coordinate with Accounting to support annual cost roll accuracy
What You Bring to Graco
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of experience in plant finance and/or cost accounting
Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, cost drivers and inventory processes
Ability to translate operational activity into clear financial insights.
Demonstrated discipline in enforcing controls and maintaining data accuracy.
Proven ability to partner effectively with Operations, HR, and Finance to improve productivity and cost outcomes
High accountability and attention to detail
Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency (Oracle preferred)
Excellent communication skills with ability to influence non‑financial stakeholders
Accelerators
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts
Experience with multi‑site standard costing environments
Exposure to global industrial manufacturing operations
Experience supporting ERP upgrades or transitions

The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation. If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
