Job Summary

The Colorado Law School welcomes applications for a Faculty Coordinator! This position provides high-level technical, financial, and administrative support to both permanent and adjunct faculty. This role manages a wide range of tasks, including academic proofreading, manuscript submissions, exam administration, and course management. The coordinator also oversees faculty development budgets, handles purchasing and reimbursements, develops and manages web pages, and establishes organizational systems to support faculty in achieving their scholarship, instructing, and service goals.

This fast-paced position requires strong interpersonal, communication, and executive support skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement. Operating with minimal supervision, the coordinator plays a key role in advancing Colorado Law's mission and maintaining its standard of excellence.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Law Faculty Scholarship and Teaching Support:

  • Online Course Development - Collaborate with faculty to develop and create online course content. Digitize and transform existing academic content into highly engaging material on the course management platform Canvas and other e-learning platforms. Assist with updates, provide feedback, and troubleshoot technological issues. Manage course elements such as syllabi, announcements, class materials, assignments, quizzes, and student submissions. Act as a liaison between students and faculty.
  • Course Administration - Manage course rosters, seating assignments, attendance records, and the ordering and distribution of textbooks and course materials.
  • Manuscript Support - Assist faculty in preparing scholarly manuscripts for publication in both print and electronic media. Provide expert proofreading, content review, revision, and formatting of manuscripts, course materials, and exams, adhering to Bluebook style for law journal articles or the Chicago Manual of Style for book publishing. Secure copyright permissions in support of scholarship.
  • Publication Management - Prepare and submit materials for publication to academic law reviews and journals. Track and manage publication offers, rejections, and expedite requests. Assist in disseminating scholarly manuscripts in print and electronic form.
  • RA and TA Hiring - Facilitate the hiring process for Research Assistants (RAs) and Teaching Assistants (TAs) by drafting position descriptions, creating job advertisements, and coordinating with the Career Development Office (CDO) and Human Resources in posting positions and scheduling interviews.

Law Faculty Technical and Administrative Support:

  • Website Management - Manage faculty web pages on the CU Law website using specialized software (Web Express, Access), including updating bios, photos, CVs, and publications on a regular basis. Develop and maintain web pages for faculty special projects.
  • Orientation and Integration - Facilitate the onboarding process for new law faculty members, ensuring their smooth integration into the CU system.
  • Recommendation Letter Preparation - Prepare and expedite recommendation letters on behalf of faculty for students via print and online platforms, such as OSCAR for the court system.
  • Committee Support - Provide support of varying complexity for law faculty members' service on faculty committees and search committees, if schedule permits.
  • General Assistance - Provide comprehensive support in response to a variety of requests from law faculty, addressing their educational, research and scholarship needs.

Financial Management and Procurement:

  • Payments and Reimbursements - Process domestic and international payments and reimbursement requests for law faculty via Concur and Marketplace systems.
  • Procurement and Compliance - Complete procurement and financial paperwork for payments to consultants and external affiliates, including non-employee reimbursements and honoraria. Collaborate with the Director of Fiscal Operations & Compliance to ensure compliance with university procurement policies.
  • Travel Coordination - Coordinate individual and group travel, including pre- and post-travel procurement processes.
  • Budget Management - Manage faculty development fund budgets, research assistant support, grants, and other funds available to faculty. Make purchases to support faculty teaching, research, and scholarship needs. Ensure financial tasks are completed in a timely manner to meet timelines.

Law School Program Support:

  • Program and Project Coordination - Provide administrative support for assigned programs, initiatives, and special projects. Coordinate meetings, communications, materials, and related logistics.
  • Faculty Projects and Pro Bono Support - Assist faculty with programmatic, research, and administrative needs related to special projects and pro bono activities.
  • Website Content Management - Develop and maintain program webpages in collaboration with faculty, directors, fellows, and other collaborators.
  • Newsletter and Materials Management - Develop program newsletters by coordinating with directors, faculty members, and fellows to produce and edit content. Create visual text and imagery design concepts using the app Canva and other software for print and electronic communications and publications.

Examination Management:

  • Examination Preparation - Manage pre-and post-examination processes. Prepare midterm and final law exam content for faculty by providing high-level proofreading, editing, and content review. Develop and distribute instructions to students prior to the exam.
  • Electronic Exam Administration - Create and program electronic exam documents into exam software. Maintain the exam tracking system and troubleshoot software issues. Generate answer and analysis reports for faculty.
  • Examination Administration - Coordinate and track examination process, recommending modifications as necessary. Work with the Law School Registrar's Office, Student Affairs, and the Law Library to ensure smooth exam processes. Maintain confidentiality and ensure security of exam administration.
  • Grading Support - Assist faculty in exam grading by verifying grading calculations.

This position has the ability to work in a hybrid work modality, with 3 days a week required to be in person during the academic year, and 2 days a week required to be in person during the summer. The position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday - Friday during regular business hours.
