Concordia is a Lutheran higher education community committed to helping students develop in mind, body and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and in the world.Position SummaryConcordia University seeks applicants for a full-time, twelve-month faculty position in Economics and chair of the Financial Studies department (accounting, actuarial science, and finance) in the Batterman School of Business starting in August 2027. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and is located on the Mequon, WI campus.The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of economics courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Areas may include principles of macro and microeconomics, econometrics, money and banking, international economics, and managerial economics. An interest in participating in the work of the Concordia Free Enterprise Center and the Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) major would be a plus.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesTeach undergraduate and graduate courses in economics, business policy and other related business disciplines as required.Oversee the Financial Studies curriculum, including curriculum development, implementation, and assessment for traditional and accelerated learning modalitiesSupervise, orient, evaluate, and promote professional development of Financial Studies faculty (full-time and part-time)Hire and coordinate Financial Studies adjunct instructors in collaboration with the Academic Program CoordinatorChair department faculty meetingsMentor and advise students pursuing business majorsMaintain an active research program, with regular publications in peer-reviewed journals consistent with Batterman School of Business standards for academic researchStay current in the field of study/area of expertise and develop professionally in contentHold regular office hours and advise students on their academic degree plansAttend orientation and faculty and university/school/department meetingsServe as a role model for scholar-practitioner research and teaching excellenceServe on University and school committeesOther duties that align with the University and School of Business strategic priorities Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAn active member of a Christian churchAbility to teach undergraduate and graduate-level finance coursesCommitment to teaching excellence, innovative curriculum development and deliveryWillingness to teach classes face-to-face and onlineExperience and interest in teaching students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgroundsAbility to use technology in instruction and advisingA high standard of professional integrity, flexibility, strong team-building skills, and ability to work in complex settingsSupportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)Education and ExperienceEarned terminal degree (doctorate) in economics, business, or a related field. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. ABD will be considered with related professional experience.
