Position Summary

Concordia University Wisconsin seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Graduate Nursing Program, based on the Mequon, Wisconsin campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for didactic teaching in the Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Direct-Entry MSN (DE-MSN) programs, with potential additional instruction based on the School of Nursing needs. This is a 12-month contract with the University. The position reports to the non-traditional and graduate director of the School of Nursing Program.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Teach didactic courses in the Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Direct-Entry MSN (DE-MSN) program with potential additional instruction based on School of Nursing needs.
  • Develop and update course syllabi, lesson plans, and teaching materials for assigned courses, reflecting course objectives and program outcomes.
  • Provide timely feedback on student assignments and communicate frequently and proactively with students throughout the course
  • Adhere to School of Nursing (SON) grading and other policies per CUW and SON faculty handbooks
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding curriculum and course materials

Clinical

  • Provide oversight and evaluation of students' practicum experiences.
  • Initiate new clinical sites and relationships, working with healthcare and academic partners
  • Review clinical proposals for the PMHNP students and work closely with the Graduate Clinical Coordinator to make sure placements are appropriate

Scholarship/Research

  • Engage in a program of scholarship, consistent with the University's definition, in an area of clinical or educational/teaching expertise.
  • Disseminate scholarship findings in a peer-reviewed venue consistent with the University's expectations

Service

  • Provide service to the SON and University as expected for rank
  • Actively participate in program and SON business and initiatives
  • Engage in professional and community service as defined in the Faculty Handbook.

Professional Activity

  • Work collaboratively with other faculty and staff to carry out the business of the SON and Graduate Program
  • Maintain current knowledge of professional nursing practice and evidence-based pedagogy within the area of teaching responsibility
  • Assist with student recruitment
  • Coordinate the PMHNP program with responsibility for assessment and curriculum of that program

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Previous teaching in a graduate nursing program and online teaching (preferred)
  • Current clinical practice and knowledge of research evidence within the areas of teaching responsibility
  • All Concordia University faculty are members of Christian congregations; membership in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) is preferred.

Education & Experience

  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with a dual certificate as a Psychiatric/Mental Health NP
  • Earned doctorate in nursing
  • Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Wisconsin, or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a nurse practitioner
  • Experience with academic program development

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt (salary) faculty position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience. Academic rank as designated by the President. Concordia University benefit options include, but are not limited to the following:
