Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a 9-month, full-time Philosophy Instructor. As a full-time faculty member of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and its Communications, Foreign Languages, and Humanities department, instructional assignments are during the day and/or evening at any of our campuses/locations: Salisbury (North), Concord (South or CBTC), Kannapolis (College Station or NCRC). The faculty member is expected to participate in committees as assigned by the department chair, complete administrative tasks related to transfer advising and student retention, meet all annual professional development requirements, and meet all college and department deadlines. This position is responsible for QM certification of the PHI course(s) materials and for serving as a faculty partner (mentor) to PHI adjunct faculty members. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master's degree or higher in Philosophy or Ethics; or master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in related coursework with Philosophy and/or Ethics in the graduate course description.

  1. Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.

  1. Update, communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.

  1. Work collaboratively with the College's support services to identify and address the students' academic support needs.

  1. Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College's learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.

  1. Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.

  1. When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.

  1. Support student mentoring, advising, registration and recruitment efforts, as appropriate or required.
