Actalent is hiring for a Failure Analysis Engineer in the Burlington, MA area!

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer to join our team in Burlington, MA for a six-month assignment. This position requires 100% onsite presence in our laboratory, where you will be required to work in a gowned-up environment. The main purpose of this role is to perform failure analysis on explanted biomedical implant products, providing technical expertise to the Product Analysis Laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform failure analysis on explanted long-term biomedical implant products.
  • Apply theoretical principles, evaluation, ingenuity, and creative/analytical techniques to identify root cause failure mechanisms.
  • Meet deadlines on multiple assignments and operate in a diverse, cross-functional team environment.
  • Proactively seek quality improvements related to Failure Analysis.
  • Serve as lead and assign work to less experienced personnel; mentor lab staff in solving complex problems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Surveillance teams.
  • Assist in defining test equipment as required to fulfill quality responsibilities.
  • Support all company initiatives related to Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
  • Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with employees, customers, contractors, and vendors at all levels.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Preferred specialization in Electrical or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Engineering work experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of global regulations for medical device reporting and medical terminology is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and on teams in a busy department while managing multiple tasks and investigations simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a timely manner.

Work Environment

The position is based in Burlington, MA and requires 100% onsite work in a laboratory setting. The role involves working in a gowned-up environment, adhering to strict quality standards. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Burlington, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
