Failure Analysis Technician

Location: Durham, NC
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday

We are seeking a hands-on Failure Analysis Technician to support the troubleshooting, repair, and root cause analysis of electronic hardware. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in component-level debugging, PCB troubleshooting, and electronics testing who enjoy working closely with engineering teams to resolve complex hardware issues and improve product reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic hardware at the component level.
  • Perform root cause analysis using schematics, test logs, and electronic test equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Utilize tools such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, logic analyzers, and microscopes for hardware debugging and failure analysis.
  • Perform PCB inspection, soldering, rework, cable and harness testing, and connector repairs.
  • Monitor reliability testing and investigate hardware failures to identify corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, quality, manufacturing, and reliability engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Assist with test station setup, prototype builds, fixtures, and engineering validation activities.
  • Document troubleshooting procedures, repair activities, and technical findings while following established SOPs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe, organized work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic assemblies or PCBAs.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, circuits, and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, logic analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Experience with component-level troubleshooting, soldering, PCB inspection, and cable/harness testing.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware such as CPUs, memory, NICs, and motherboards is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze test logs, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.
