Fall 2026 Peer Leader (3 crd.) - PLV

This Peer Leader position is open to undergraduate students on the Pace University Pleasantville Campus.

UNV 101 (3-credit) is a first-year seminar designed to help students practice foundational college-level learning skills through preparation, inquiry, and the application of course concepts as they transition to university life. Peer Leaders in 3-credit sections serve as mentors, facilitators, and student-experience experts who enhance the course through meaningful engagement and peer support.

Peer Leaders collaborate closely with their assigned UNV 101 Instructor to deliver a structured series of mini-lessons focused on the first-year experience. Throughout the semester, Peer Leaders will facilitate eight mini-lessons that align with course learning outcomes and support students' transition to college life.

Mini-lesson topics may include:

• Navigating Pace technology and campus tools
• Campus resources and support services
• Student organizations and campus involvement
• Time management and study strategies
• Wellness, stress management, and balancing college life
• Building friendships and community

In addition to facilitating lessons, Peer Leaders serve as approachable peer resources for first-year students outside of the classroom. They support students with navigating questions about campus life, connecting with university resources, and developing a sense of belonging and confidence throughout their transition to college.

This position is supervised by the Assistant Director of First Year Advising (FYA) and is open to full-time undergraduate students.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and maintain regular communication with the UNV 101 Instructor to plan, schedule, and facilitate eight engaging mini-lessons that support course scaffolding and the first-year student experience.
• Serve as a peer mentor, role model, and outside-of-class resource by supporting and encouraging student connection, belonging, and engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
• Support students in navigating campus tools, student life, involvement opportunities, and university resources, while connecting them with additional support services when appropriate.
• Share the student perspective and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for first-year students.
• Attend and complete required Peer Leader training before the semester.
• Must be a full-time undergraduate student.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 by the position start date.
• Must attend and complete mandatory Peer Leader training, including Peer Advising Skills Badge.
• Availability to attend and participate in all weekly UNV 101 class sessions.
• Proficiency in all required Pace technology platforms.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Must attend Instructor meetings (via Zoom, email, or in-person) as required.
• Demonstrated commitment to supporting new students' academic and personal success.
• No current university judicial sanctions at the date of application.

Compensation

UNV Peer Leaders receive a $400 stipend covering training, course-related work, and mentoring responsibilities. Stipends are issued toward the end of the semester.
