Counselor Practicum students must have two years minimum teaching experience to complete practicum with NEISD

PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:
To complete program requirements, which require a practicum and/or internship to gain necessary experience in the area of study requested (i.e. principal, counselor, nurse, librarian, speech pathologist, educational diagnostician, LSSP, master reading teacher, superintendent).
POTENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF A MENTOR):
Be a positive role model for students and support mission of North East Independent School District while following the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators
Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
Assist the mentor in managing student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student / Parent Handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Maintain a professional relationship with campus staff, students, parents and community members.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Report to campus on scheduled days and times that are agreed upon by principal, mentor, student, university and/or preparation program.
