Join the City of Boise's Afterschool Team! We are hiring After School Recreation Attendants for the Fall school year! Program starts August 17, 2026!
Love working with kids and making a real difference in your community? We're hiring After School Recreation Attendants to supervise and support children ages 5-17 at our school-based community centers.
You'll help plan fun, age-appropriate activities, keep kids safe, and create a welcoming space where youth can learn and grow after school.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 3:00-6:00 PM (during Boise School District sessions)
Locations: Multiple City of Boise Community Centers (placement based on offer)
About Kid City:
Kid City is a free after school program at several elementary schools in the Boise and West Ada School Districts, serving 1st-6th graders. Kid City offers homework help, youth sports, STEM, art projects, games, and a healthy snack.
Boise Parks and Recreation partners with the Boise and West Ada School Districts to provide safe, enriching environments. Sites are closed on holidays and weekends.
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Essential Functions
Prepares materials and supplies for youth arts and crafts projects and assists participants when necessary.
Encourages and engages youth in a variety of indoor and outdoor group recreational activities such as basketball, tag, and tetherball.
Makes sure equipment and supplies are in good working order and notifies supervisor when items need repair or replacement.
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts managements right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. The noise level is frequently loud and occasionally moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, runn, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits with required standard employee and City contribution rates
