Job Description

Join our team for a rewarding Park Operations Internship where you'll help create memorable experiences for visitors while learning the ins and outs of park operations, environmental stewardship, and outdoor recreation. From supporting community programs to assisting with conservation initiatives, this internship offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural world while building valuable skills for your future career.

As a Park Operations Itern with PRT you will:

  • Assist with daily park operations, including campground, camp store, and facility maintenance.
  • Provide customer service by greeting visitors, answering questions, and processing reservations and payments.
  • Support outdoor recreation activities such as hiking, kayaking, archery, fishing, and camping techniques.
  • Help plan and deliver educational and interpretive programs focused on nature, conservation, and outdoor skills.
  • Participate in environmental service projects, including cleanups and sustainability efforts.
  • Assist with Planetarium programming.
  • Contribute to marketing and outreach efforts through flyers, exhibits, and social media content.
  • Support special events and community programs through setup, facilitation, and cleanup.
  • Assist with inventory, equipment management, and facility organization.

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Requires instruction that is sufficient for satisfactory job performance.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of one month of full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

Requires CPR and First Aid certification within the first year of employment. May require a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City Driving Standards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

Students participating in the Internship Program will be responsible for :

  • Providing their own transportation to and from work,
  • Arriving at the work site at the time designated by the work site supervisor.
  • Performing the tasks assigned by the vocational instructor/coordinator and the work site supervisor in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrating honesty, punctuality, courtesy, a cooperative attitude, appropriate dress, and a willingness to learn.
  • Conforming to the guidelines of the internship work site.
