RESPONSIBILITIES:
SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT Model and facilitate a welcoming school environment for their assigned school in collaboration with building administration and staff
Serve as a representative implementing the Merrillville Community School Corporation Strategic Plan within the various areas of school and community and will be the essential link in helping families access services to meet their individual and collective needs, in order that barriers that impede the academic and personal success of students and self can be diminished. SERVICES TO FAMILIES
Serve the families and students in grades Pre-K-12 in all schools
Identify, develop and implement an assortment of workshops and presentations for parents and the community. The monthly workshops and presentations will reflect the needs of the student/family population served
Work collaboratively with and support school-based committees (PTO, CIS, etc.) representing ALL grades levels in their designated school of assignment
Participate in a minimum of four parent focused events, such as district-wide Title 1 student events, Family Orientation Night, Family Fun Night, and Kindergarten Welcome Night. Other activities include School Open House, Technology and building-level student and/or family initiatives.

Serve as an active problem-solver, have the ability to take initiative, while also taking guidance when appropriate
Serve as a resource and facilitate training for parents on topics of child development, behavior acquisition and addressing childhood behavioral concerns, student expectations, attendance, technology and achievement through monthly Parent Involvement Workshops
Develop and facilitate a "Scholars Welcome Program" for new students and parents in collaboration with the school's PBIS and Social Emotional Behavior Wellness (SEBW) Committees
Facilitate volunteer opportunities for their designed school building and implement their school's Parent Involvement Policy
Assists in the communication and collaboration between teachers, parents, and students in matters that impact student behavior, academics, and attendance
Maintains complete up-to-date and accurate records of contacts with students, parents and staff
Works collaboratively with school social workers/administrators to ensure social service needs of students/family are being met BUILDING & DIRECT
COLLABORATION:
Work effectively with building and district level administrators within all schools
Serve as a training resource for parent engagement for building staff
Create and disseminate a monthly Family Engagement Newsletter
Engage staff to create an effective communication channel in order that school and family connections may be established and sustained for the benefit of student success by meeting formally with F.A.C.E.S. colleagues and Social Workers at least once a month
Collect tracking and notification data, maintain records and submit data records within the set timeframe
Support and provide marketing campaign information to the district Public Information Officer Report to their building administrator and Director of Student Services, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to keep them abreast of activities, concerns, and seek support as needed COMMUNITY COLLABORATION Collaborate with service providers that focus on transitions after high school
Seek out community resources and attend community outreach activities
Serve as liaison between the home, school and community agencies (Ie. truancy court, access to resources, dissemination of pertinent information, etc.)

Handle all assigned duties with professional integrity and a motivation that reflects enthusiasm for her/his role
Meet their role expectations
Remain culturally sensitive in their interaction with students, families, and staff
Participate in in-service training and professional development as provided
Maintain confidentiality with families served; accept for circumstances involving mandated reporting
Participate in monthly departmental meetings
