Family Law Attorney – High-Conflict and High-Asset Litigation

This is not a training position. You will carry a full caseload of emotionally charged, high-conflict family law matters from day one, and you will be expected to handle them independently. If you need daily direction or have not personally litigated contested custody, complex equitable distribution, or domestic violence cases, this role will overwhelm you quickly.

You must hold an active New Jersey law license and have 3–5 years of direct family law experience—not general litigation with some family law exposure. If your background is primarily transactional or you've only handled uncontested divorces, you are not ready for this environment.

You will draft all your own pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements without template reliance or substantive editing from others. If your legal writing is not already sharp and persuasive, you will fall behind immediately.

You will represent clients alone in negotiations, mediations, hearings, and trials. If you are not comfortable taking the lead in a courtroom or lack confidence handling cross-examination and evidentiary objections without support, this is not the role for you.

You must be capable of managing your own docket, deadlines, and client communications without reminders or oversight. If you require structured check-ins or struggle with autonomy, this firm does not have the infrastructure to support that work style.

You will handle high-asset and high-conflict matters where clients are experiencing trauma, anger, and fear. If you are uncomfortable navigating intense emotions or cannot separate client anxiety from case strategy, you will burn out fast.

You will collaborate with the firm's owner on strategy when needed, but you are expected to bring solutions, not problems. If you default to asking "What should I do?" rather than "Here's my recommendation," you are not operating at the level this role demands.
