Family Medicine Residency Core Faculty
Inpatient Adult Medicine Curriculum Lead
About the Role
Are you a family medicine physician who loves teaching, thrives on inpatient medicine, and wants to help build a residency program from the ground up? Thundermist Health Center is launching a new Family Medicine Residency in affiliation with Tufts University School of Medicine, and we're looking for a Core Faculty Member to lead the inpatient adult medicine curriculum. You'll lead the family medicine inpatient team at Landmark Medical Center, develop inpatient rotation curriculum, precept residents in clinic, and maintain your own primary care panel at Thundermist. Your time splits roughly 50/50 between residency education and clinical practice. Thundermist is a multi-site FQHC serving over 65,000 patients across Rhode Island, based in Woonsocket - a diverse and medically underserved community just 20 minutes from Providence and 45 minutes from Boston.

What We're Looking For
You're a family physician who's as comfortable rounding on a teaching service as you are managing a complex panel in community primary care. You're drawn to academic medicine, energized by teaching, and committed to training the next generation of family doctors in a community that needs them.
Preferred:
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive compensation and benefits including: malpractice coverage through the Federal Tort Claims Act with additional gap coverage; 30 days of PTO (increasing with seniority) plus 6 paid holidays; 5 CME days with CME stipend; eligibility for state and federal loan repayment; 403(b) retirement plan with employer match; and academic appointment via Tufts University School of Medicine (rank commensurate with experience).
Thundermist is committed to provider wellness and is an AMA Joy in Medicine practice site. You'll be supported by AI scribes, refill assistance with pharmacy technicians, prior authorization and referral support, cross-coverage support for PTO, and a nurse triage service as the first line for after-hours calls.
Schedule
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position. Approximately 50% of your time (20 hours) is reserved for residency education and administration - hospital rounding, precepting, curriculum development, and program administration. Of the remaining 20 hours, 16 hours are patient-facing in your own primary care clinic and 4 hours are dedicated to clinical administrative duties. The schedule averages one week of hospital daytime call out of every three, with non-hospital weeks comprising clinic and administrative responsibilities. Some periods of 24-hour phone call coverage are included.
