Family Medicine with Surgical Obstetrics

UNC Health - Multiple Full-Time Opportunities in North Carolina

UNC Health is recruiting Family Medicine physicians with surgical obstetrics for three full-time roles in Eden, Siler City, and Kinston, NC. All positions focus on full-spectrum FM + OB in rural/underserved communities with strong institutional support.

Requirements:

• MD/DO; NC license or eligible
• BC/BE in Family Medicine
• ACGME-accredited 3-year FM residency with strong perinatal training
• Operative OB fellowship required

1. Eden, NC - UNC Women's Health & UNC Family Medicine at Eden

Highlights

• Build a full-scope primary care + obstetric practice
• Deliveries at UNC Health Rockingham Hospital (LDRP unit; "High Performing" in Maternity Care - U.S. News 2025)
• Join:
• UNC Women's Health at Eden: 2 OB/GYNs, NP, per diem OB/GYNs
• UNC Family Medicine at Eden: 2 FM physicians, NP
• 1:4 OB call; EPIC EMR
• Options to tailor role (e.g., newborn nursery, adult hospitalist shifts, sports medicine, procedures such as ultrasound-guided procedures, paracentesis, thoracentesis, LP, thyroid and breast FNAs)

2. Siler City, NC - Faculty Physician / Clinician Educator (Chatham Hospital)

• Cover Labor & Delivery with surgical coverage (C-sections)
• Setting: 25 bed critical access hospital; maternity care fully staffed by FM faculty
• Mix of:
• Clinical care (L&D, possible hospitalist work, continuity or specialty clinics)
• Teaching and training future providers for underserved populations
• Scholarly work (presentations, manuscripts encouraged)
• Supervision of APPs and participation in institutional quality and outreach
• Employed by UNC School of Medicine. Faculty rank/salary commensurate with experience

• Full-spectrum FM including women's health, prenatal, perinatal, postpartum, pediatrics, and family medicine

• Perform C-sections and other OB surgical procedures; participate in shared call and L&D coverage (including high-risk cases under OB/GYN supervision)
• Provide continuity care for mothers and newborns; engage in interdisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives
