The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University''s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry seeks an organized, detail-oriented person to be responsible for care coordination and follow-up for families of infants with rare genetic conditions that put them at risk of autism spectrum disorder and related neurodevelopmental problems. The Family Navigator must be fluent in both Spanish and English. They will work with research participants/patients in the Prospective Genetic Risk Evaluation and Assessment (PROGRESS) Autism Center of Excellence at Columbia University, in collaboration with the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene and the NYP Center for Autism and the Developing Brain. They will act as a liaison between research participants/patients, researchers, and clinical and educational providers. The primary responsibility of the Family Navigator will be to link families of at-risk infants with appropriate services to help with early developmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates care coordination across disciplines (e.g., physical therapy, speech therapy, early childhood education) and provides follow-up for patients/families in the community (e.g., engages with community-based providers [early intervention], attends meetings, helps navigate applications for external services [insurance- or early-intervention based, and accesses external resources).
  • Works closely with Spanish and English speaking families to integrate care across the lifespan and bridge families to services in their communities to ensure their needs are being met both during their participation in our research program from 2 to 36 months of age.
  • Maintains HIPAA-compliant records and protects personal information.
  • Serves as a representative at community events and activities.
  • Facilitates continued maintenance and expansion of resource database, including creating new contacts via outreach calls and in-person visits to learn about new resources for participants/patients.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s Degree or equivalent in training and experience, plus three years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak and write fluently in both Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in related field or the equivalent in experience and training.

Other Requirements

  • Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements.
  • Able to lift at least 10 pounds.
