    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the direction of the Manager, provides comprehensive support services to enrolled children and families in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Wisconsin Child Care regulations, and program policies. Responsible for supporting family engagement, case management, community partnerships, parent involvement activities, and coordination of services to ensure families receive appropriate resources and support.

     

    STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

    All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

    1.  Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.

    2.  Must be at least 18 years of age

    3.  Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record

    4.  Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays

    5.  Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

    1.       Responsible for regular home visits, to assure each enrolled family receives the support and services required by Performance Standards; that family needs are assessed and that all identified concerns receive appropriate follow-up to resolution; and that program goals and objectives are met.

    2.       Assist Manager in maintaining financial records, processing purchase orders, and ordering supplies.

    3.       Serve as a liaison between Head Start and community programs providing services to low-income families and developing partnerships with community agencies to assure resources are available and accessible to Head Start families.

    4.       Assure principles of case management and integration of services are applied to programs and services offered to families.

    5.       Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, agendas, memos, forms, directories, monthly calendars, newsletters, and parent communications.

    6.       Encourage families to develop skills as advocates for their child whether at the Learning Center or in the child’s early childhood program setting.

    7.       Participate in pre-service, in-service, and other on-going training as required by the Federal Office of Head Start Performance Standards and Wisconsin Child Care regulations.

    8.       Plan, support and provide opportunities for parents to become involved in program activities; teachers and staff to establish and support Parent Committees as defined in Performance Standards; monitor, evaluate and recommend improvements to parent activities in the areas of Health, Safety, Nutrition and Transition activities.

    9.       Filling in as a Teacher, Teacher Assistant, Cook, and/or operating a transportation van when the program staff and/or alternate are unavailable.

    10.   Collaborates with the Center Bus driver to confirm routes, rider participation, evacuation drills and confirms operation of alarms.

    11.   Practice excellent customer service skills at all times to include, but not limited to, addressing program families, members of the community, and employee needs courteously and promptly.

    12.   Complete and track work orders to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of facility.

    13.   Demonstrates a solid understanding of DCF Group Child Care licensing regulations to ensure Center compliance.

    14.   Coordinate referrals to community resources and outside agencies.

    15.   Meet federal, State, and program documentation requirements by maintaining accurate, objective, complete, timely, and well-organized child and family records.

    16.   Plan and carry out activities which promote Parent Involvement in the areas of Health, Safety, Nutrition and Transition activities.

    17.   Adhere to all tribal law, personnel policies and procedures in addition to departmental policies and procedures.

    18.   The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position.  The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    1.       Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Human Services, Health, Education or related field from an accredited College or University is required (MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF DEGREE TO COMPLETE APPLICATION). 

    2.       Current Fist Aid and CPR certifications or willingness to obtain these certifications within (30) days of date of employment is required.  Must maintain CPR and Red Cross First Aide Certification during employment.

    3.       Stockbridge-Munsee Community Food Safety Certification is required with in three (3) months of employment.  Must maintain Food Safety Certification during employment.

    4.       Ability to clearly communicate orally, in writing, assertively and effectively.

    5.       Ability to process information effectively, identify and define problems and make timely, objective decisions.

    6.       Ability to operate standard office equipment including a computer, laminator, and copy/ fax machine. Additional skill and knowledge of smart boards, iPads, and other advanced technologies preferred.

    7.       Must be dependable and reliable and have demonstrated the ability to maintain a satisfactory employment record with any previous employer.

    8.       Must adhere to strict confidentiality in all matters.  (Must sign a confidentiality statement prior to start of employment.)

    9.       Adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.  A Tuberculosis (TB) screening and/or TB Skin Test is required prior to employment and annually thereafter.

    10.   Previous personal computer experience is required including knowledge of Microsoft Office.

    11.   Knowledge of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community, its history, culture, and language is preferred.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    d.          1. Frequently sit, bend/stoop, squat, carry and lift up to fifty (50) pounds; occasionally stand, walk, crouch, kneel, balance, and push and pull.

    2. Must be able to spend time in- out-of-doors in summer and winter months,

    3. Must be able to use both hands for repetitive movements, simple and firm grasping.

    4. Must provide written documentation from a doctor that a physical examination was performed within (30) days of employment and annually thereafter.
