Position: Respite Worker
Location: In the community        Counties (Atlantic, Cape, Gloucester, Ocean, Monmouth, Hudson)
Schedule: Part-time | Evenings & Weekends
Age Group Served: Youth ages 4–20 with developmental disabilities
Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 an hour


About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaging Respite Worker to provide high-quality care for children and youth with developmental disabilities. This role offers temporary relief to caregivers while ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals served. Services will be provided during evenings and weekends in the family’s home or community setting.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide direct supervision and care to youth ages 4–20 with developmental disabilities.

  • Engage youth in age-appropriate, safe, and enriching activities.

  • Support daily living tasks as needed (e.g., meals, hygiene routines, transitions).

  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.

  • Communicate effectively with families and program staff.

  • Maintain documentation and reports as required.

Qualifications:


  • Experience working with children or youth with developmental disabilities preferred.

  • Must be reliable, patient, and adaptable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and follow care plans.

  • Must pass background checks and meet state requirements for respite care providers.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred:


  • Related education or training in special education, psychology, social work, or related field.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
