Position: Respite Worker Location: In the community Counties (Atlantic, Cape, Gloucester, Ocean, Monmouth, Hudson) Schedule: Part-time | Evenings & Weekends Age Group Served: Youth ages 4–20 with developmental disabilities Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 an hour
About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaging Respite Worker to provide high-quality care for children and youth with developmental disabilities. This role offers temporary relief to caregivers while ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals served. Services will be provided during evenings and weekends in the family’s home or community setting.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct supervision and care to youth ages 4–20 with developmental disabilities.
Engage youth in age-appropriate, safe, and enriching activities.
Support daily living tasks as needed (e.g., meals, hygiene routines, transitions).
Ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.
Communicate effectively with families and program staff.
Maintain documentation and reports as required.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children or youth with developmental disabilities preferred.
Must be reliable, patient, and adaptable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and follow care plans.
Must pass background checks and meet state requirements for respite care providers.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred:
Related education or training in special education, psychology, social work, or related field.
