What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $62,000 - $66,000. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

What You’ll Do

At Denver Human Services (DHS), we envision a healthy community where people are connected, supported, safe, and well. One in three people in Denver turn to DHS for support at all stages of life. Our employees help children, at-risk adults, families, and individuals navigate social and economic pressures by connecting them to services and experts who support their overall well-being.

Denver Human Services is currently seeking a top-notch, highly dedicated Social Case Worker to join the Family Time Program within the Child Welfare Services Division. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling supervised Family Time between children who are in out-of-home care and their parents/caregivers.

Additionally, the Family Time Program Social Case Worker:

• Provides ongoing assessment describing the strengths, challenges and progress observed in the parent-child interaction during supervised Family Time, makes recommendations based on those assessments, and offers court testimony to their observations

• Provides a variety of services including transportation, icebreakers between parents and placements, attending Family Team Meetings, court hearings, and professional staffing's, and providing support to families through preparation and debriefing in conjunction with their Family Time

• Reviews the family’s history and partners with the family to incorporate their culture and identities in Family Time, including the identification of kin or other supports who could provide supervision for Family Time, if possible

• Delivers hands-on parent coaching interventions with parents/caregivers to build their parenting skills and support reunification

• Effectively partner with families, department staff, and external stakeholders to support families as they work towards reunification

• Experience in providing family engagement services

• Certification from the Colorado Child Welfare Academy

• The ability to work independently with integrity and reliability

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Education Requirement: Requirements as set forth in Colorado Department of Human Services Volume 7 and/or Volume 30 regulations

• Experience Requirement: Professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services related agency, as required by Colorado Department of Human Services Volume 7 and/or Volume 30 regulations

• Education & Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements

• Licensure & Certification: Requires a valid Driver’s License at the time of application. Requires post-hire completion of certification requirements to be a social case worker in Child Welfare or Adult Protective Services in accordance with CDHS regulations.  Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
