A FamilySearch events experience manager is responsible for generating meaningful and effective products - both online and in-person - while creating a world-class experience for attendees and staff across the globe. They support the strategic objectives of FamilySearch International by leading, planning, and executing small to large scale international events including RootsTech, the largest family history event in the world. RootsTech is an annual, full-scale conference that attracts 15,000 - 30,000 in-person attendees in Salt Lake City and garners millions of participants from over 230 countries and territories worldwide.

  • 8+ years of experience in corporate/professional event management, preferably in strategic, logistical, and experience design

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred - preferably in management, marketing, communications, event management or experience design

  • Relentless drive for exceptional customer service to all

  • Proven success in leading the development and production of effective online and in-person experiences that have led to high satisfaction from audiences

  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, autonomy, and self-motivation

  • Excellent project/program management and time management skills

  • Exceptional ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a high degree of professionalism and ability to manage expectations both internally and externally at all levels of the organization

  • Excellent problem solver - proactively pre-empts and seeks out solutions to business challenges and opportunities

  • Multi-national experience and second language preferred

  • Partner with engineering resources to establish and maintain online audience journeys

  • Manage the global content database and publication plan for the annual RootsTech Conference and year-round learning

  • Direct strategic planning around event staffing for RootsTech and other events in coordination with FamilySearch human resources

  • Oversee all customer service functions including email, survey feedback and website feedback

  • Coordinate feedback gathering through the research team's annual surveys

  • Manage, empower, and build the capabilities of an internal team of event staff

  • Ensure strategic and effective use of publishing and operational budgets

  • Work with key vendors that help support event experiences

  • Partner with engineering resources to establish and maintain online audience journeys
