    Job Description

Build Flight-Ready Precision at Filger Manufacturing

For more than 70 years, Filger Manufacturing has crafted mission-critical parts for aerospace, medical, and space programs. We're adding an experienced CNC Turning professional who can independently set up and operate Kia and Hardinge lathes running Fanuc controls—and keep them producing within ultra-tight tolerances.

    A day in this role

You clock in at 6:00 a.m., review the traveler, and stage materials, fixtures, and tools. You bring up the Kia or Hardinge turning center, dial in tooling, and collaborate with the shop foreman to complete the first article. Holding to +/- .0002 is the norm, not the exception. You make offsets, tweak minor program details, verify with micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM equipment, and eye loupes, and then move confidently into production. When a cut doesn't look right, you troubleshoot root causes—tooling, offsets, or setup—without losing sight of throughput or safety. Overtime is available as workload requires.

    Core responsibilities

    • Independently set up and operate CNC lathes with Fanuc controls
    • Produce precision aerospace components to tolerances as tight as +/- .0002
    • Select and stage tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job
    • Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers
    • Partner with the shop foreman to complete first articles
    • Apply offsets and make minor program edits as needed
    • Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, CMM equipment, gauges, and eye loupes
    • Troubleshoot machining and quality issues to root cause
    • Meet production goals while upholding quality standards
    • Maintain clean, organized machines and work areas

    What you bring

    • 5+ years independently setting up and operating CNC lathes
    • Deep experience with Fanuc controls
    • Background producing tight-tolerance aerospace or similarly precise components
    • Ability to run jobs end-to-end—from setup and first article through production
    • Expert blueprint reading and precision metrology skills
    • Skill in diagnosing and correcting setup, tooling, offset, and quality issues
    • Self-directed work style with clear, timely communication
    • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work safely in a machine-shop environment

    - Ability to pass a basic background check and employment-reference review
