Farm Hand

Overview:

 Assists in performing custodial and various farm duties in an indoor and outdoor setting, as assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Assists in moving supplies and equipment as needed.
• Notifies supervisor of problems/difficulties in performing job duties.
• Monitors inventory of supplies and notifies team leader when the need for replenishment arises.
• Cleaning out pens/paddocks and facilities.
• Feeding and caring for livestock (goats, sheep, pig, horses, chickens, ducks, etc.) and small animals.
• Moving and refilling feed, hay, and other supplies and materials.
• Helping with the maintenance of farm structures and equipment.
• Assisting with general property maintenance — pruning plants, snow removal, moving compost, etc.
• Tending gardens on property — planting, weeding, harvesting, spreading mulch, watering, etc.
• Notifies team leader if equipment is not working properly.
• Performs additional related duties as requested by supervisor.
• Operation of equipment and machinery, as required.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma and NYS Driver’s License required.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor, with ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to understand instructions given by supervisor. 
• Flexible; able to accept changes in job duties. 

Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50lbs.
