This position requires employee work in outdoor and indoor environments including but not limited to offices, classrooms, school kitchens, and school gardens.
DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT OF POSITION The Farm to School (FTS) Program Coordinator supports Nauset Public Schools by expanding and coordinating Farm to School programming to enhance local food procurement, integrate farm-based education, and manage district farming systems in alignment with cafeteria needs. Key responsibilities include developing strategies to improve district farming systems, increasing regional food sourcing, and building partnerships with local farmers to expand locally sourced food options. The coordinator establishes and manages garden and greenhouse planting schedules to ensure year-round food production, organizes monthly student taste tests to diversify menu offerings, and oversees volunteer efforts to sustain summer garden operations. Additionally, the role fosters hands-on learning opportunities through food system education, connecting local agriculture with school communities while promoting sustainability and enriching student experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS The role requires strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups including children in a public school setting. Candidates should have knowledge of school food systems, federal meal programs, local food systems, sustainable agriculture, gardening, vegetable production, nutrition, wellness, and Farm-to-school programming, along with an understanding of K-12 education and curriculum integration. Strong written, organizational, and planning skills as well as proficiency in computer use are essential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The ability to perform garden maintenance tasks, work outdoors, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate various tools and equipment.
