Job Summary
The FAS Testing Center Specialist will work closely with the Registrar's Office and other affiliated offices to oversee and implement exam accommodations for qualified students with registered testing accommodations. The Specialist will serve as the primary point of coordination for students with higher-need and complex testing accommodations, working collaboratively with campus partners to ensure appropriate planning, communication, and support. The Specialist provides coverage for essential functions to support the day-to-day operations of the testing center including handling front desk and check-in desk responsibilities and providing customer service to students and staff, space assignments, exam scheduling, exam packet preparation, proctoring exams, and related duties as required.
Job Responsibilities
Greet and welcome visitors and direct them to the appropriate location.
Coordinate higher need and complex testing accommodations for students.
Collaborate with the Disability Access Office, Registrar's Office, and other campus partners to plan, implement, and troubleshoot higher need testing accommodations.
Coordinate technology and special formats for exams through the Testing Center.
Assist with scheduling and administration of exams.
Understand and maintain testing policies and procedures for all assessments administered.
Effectively communicate with students and faculty.
Provide support for testing center exam management system to faculty and students.
Assign exam spaces to students and manage resource allocation effectively.
Perform administrative tasks including answering phone calls, distributing mail, organizing exam folders, and other related duties.
Organize completed exams and coordinate exam pickups with faculty.
Directly proctors exams when needed.
Monitor test rooms during the administration of exams.
Address and resolve questions or concerns regarding accommodations during exams.
Collect, check, and count completed exams.
Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
One year of academic experience.
One year of administrative experience.
One year of customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of general academic policies and procedures.
Basic functions of computer equipment and applications.
Customer service skills for interacting with the public, both in person and over the phone.
Basic recordkeeping and administrative practices.
Document filing systems.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to quickly learn general and specialized software applications.
Use office equipment.
Demonstrate sound judgment and discretion.
Proactive and highly organized, with a strong attention to detail.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to provide clear and concise instructions.
Interact with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Maintain accurate records.
Count quickly and accurately.
Ability to remain stationary and move around for extended periods.
Lift and move up to 50lbs as needed.
Ability to adjust hours during busy periods.
Work Schedule
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, M-F on site (excluding holidays)
