Material Handler (1st Shift)

The Material Handler is responsible for managing the movement, storage, and dispatch of materials and inventory within the warehouse or production facility. This role supports production, shipping, receiving, and inventory control to ensure materials are available where and when needed, safely and efficiently.
Receive incoming materials and inspect for quantity, quality, and condition; report any damage or discrepancies
Unload trucks, trailers, or other delivery vehicles
Move materials to storage areas, production floors, or staging areas using hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment
Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment as needed
Maintain accurate inventory records, including updating logs, computer systems, or scanners
Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventories
Label and organize inventory properly to support easy location and retrieval
Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas — ensure materials are stored safely, aisles are clear, and tools/equipment are properly stored
Follow all safety procedures, use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to company policies and OSHA guidelines
Assist in other warehouse tasks as needed (e.g. packing, wrapping, shipping coordination)
High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent work experience)
Prior warehouse or material handling experience is a plus
Forklift certification or ability to obtain one is preferred
Ability to safely lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds (or specify weight depending on facility needs) frequently
Basic computer skills (entering data, using inventory systems, scanning devices)
Strong attention to detail and ability to organize materials properly
Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
Dependable, punctual, capable of working full 1st shift schedule
Standing, walking, bending, stooping for long periods
Frequently lifting and moving materials
Operating material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks)
Ability to handle repetitive motions and possibly work in varying temperature conditions, depending on warehouse environment
