Full Time Art and Music Teacher (Kindergarten through Grade 12)

West Virginia Academy is seeking a passionate and creative educator to join our team as a full time Art and Music Teacher. This position will provide engaging visual arts and music instruction to scholars in Kindergarten through Grade 12 while fostering creativity, self expression, and an appreciation for the arts.

Position Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging art and music instruction for scholars in Kindergarten through Grade 12.
  • Develop age appropriate lessons that align with West Virginia College and Career Readiness Standards.
  • Teach foundational and advanced concepts in visual arts and music.
  • Foster creativity through drawing, painting, sculpture, music appreciation, rhythm, singing, instrumental exploration, and performance opportunities.
  • Prepare scholars for school performances, art showcases, and other special events throughout the year.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all scholars.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to support schoolwide initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding scholar progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and other school events.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Music Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
  • Valid West Virginia teaching certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience teaching children of varying ages is preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues.
  • Passion for inspiring creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
