Responsible for the establishment of department operational practices and policies, consistent with Hospital-wide operation goals and objectives. Will ensure implementation of policies and procedures are executed to enhance hospital operations and ensure the Hospital mission is met.

Participates with the governing body, administration, medical staff, and leaders in the organization’s decision making structures and processes. Participates in strategic planning, policy formation, administration and decision making with particular reference to the role, functions, fiscal management and operations of the Service Departments. 

Seeks opportunities for the development of new hospital-wide department programs and services designed to meet the needs of the hospital needs, community and medical staff. 

Manages the operations of hospital departments working through subordinates including managers and staff. Establishes department performance goals and allocates resources accordingly. Insures departmental practices meet or exceed the standards established by federal, state, accreditation agency and other regulatory agencies.

 Responsible for input into the operating and capital budgets of assigned Departments.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Requires Masters degree in relevant field of hospital administration or health care management.
  • Prefer Current State of California license in Nursing or other specialty area of expertise.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in hospital patient care operations with responsibility for administrative supervision.

Training:

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations governing hospital operations.
  • High knowledge of medical economics with strong financial management skills background capable of preparing and monitoring capital and operational budgets.
  • Must be flexible and visionary, capable of utilizing all available and potential resources, technology, innovation and creativity in the structuring and delivery of services.
  • Familiarity and knowledge with Information Technology, PC based programs and computer technology preferred.

License/Registration/Certification:

  • Current CA Driver’s License; Clean DMV Record. Minimum CA Auto Insurance.
  • Current CA License in Specialty Area
