San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for San Bernardino Valley College on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. Student worker will assist employees in the Basic Needs Office. Student workers are responsible for assisting the Basic Needs staff in the successful management and implementation of the student engagement experience including Bue's Pantry, the Basic Needs Office, and occasionally The Office of Student Life. Students will be cross trained to work in several of these areas and provide assistance with general office duties to include the following areas: information desk, technical/operation, services, event logistics, office and clerical assistance. Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population. Due to the sensitive nature of office logistics, students will be expected to maintain a high level of confidentiality. ALL STUDENT EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND PERIODIC MANDATORY TRAININGS. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing department information Office coverage (Basic Needs Office and occasionally The Office of Student Life) Mail pick-up/delivery. Assist with serving students, helping with grocery deliveries, stocking shelves in Blue's Pantry Assisting in typing, photocopying, and answering phone calls Occasional operation of the student identification card machine Assist students, staff, and faculty with various requests but not limited to department questions, completion of request forms, making appointments with Basic Needs staff. Assist in Basic Needs outreach through tabling, social media, marketing, events, and presentations. Assisting in other duties as assigned Qualifications Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Students must possess a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year. Students must enroll in a minimum of 6 units fall and spring semester; 3 units' summer. Students must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA. Students must have a current TB. Ability to follow directions to perform the duties as assigned. Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all confidential information disclosed. Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Students cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program. Desired Qualifications: Ability to communicate well and in a professional manner with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Punctual and dependable Flexible work schedule Ability to pay diligence and follow directions carefully. Must have the desire to learn and exercise office skills and procedures with minimal supervision. This position also requires assisting Blue's Pantry with deliveries, stocking, etc. and will require appropriate attire. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.
