Description:
The Center for Career and Professional Development is seeking hard-working, dynamic students to join our team! In addition to making a difference in the lives of your fellow students, you will develop skills employers seek, including written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as a member of a team, professionalism, and the confidence to take the initiative on the job. Duties:
- Represents the values and mission of the CCPD and serves as a role model to students, alumni, and other student workers
- Assist students and alumni with appointment scheduling and address their questions in person, over the phone and virtually via Zoom
- Guide students and alumni to CCPD resources
- Monitor student sign-in process for CCPD appointments and events
- Provide support to CCPD staff members with preparing for and delivering workshops, programs, and events
- Create flyers and/or social media posts to be used in marketing workshops and events
- Supports UHD and CCPD policies and guidelines
- Maintains confidentiality related to all UHD, CCPD and student data
- Location availability include S402: 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and B104: Monday 8am-5pm, Tues. and Wed. 8am-7pm, and Thurs. and Fri. 8am-5pm
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of social media platforms such as lnstagram, Facebook, Linkedln, and Campus Groups
- Creativity and design experience in tools such as Canva
- Able to provide excellent customer service
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Attention to detail with the ability to solve problems independently
- Willingness to learn new things
- Must be dependable, professional and use time wisely
Qualifications:
- Must provide a course schedule for the upcoming semester and a Financial Aid Award Letter that includes Fall 2026 if selected for an interview
- Must be a current UHD student with Financial Aid Federal Work-Study for the Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 Academic Year
- Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Must be available to work up to 20 hours a week
- Available hours range from Monday 8am to 5pm, Tuesday 8am to 7pm, Wednesday 8am to 7pm, Thursday 8am to 5pm, and Friday 8:00am to 5pm (evening availability Tue. and/or Wed. 5pm to 7pm is a plus for our B104 location!).
All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
