Department: Center for Student Leadership & Involvement Salary: $12.00 per hour
DESCRIPTION
Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI) is seeking a dependable, engaged student to support daily operations in the Student Lounge and throughout the department. This role provides a unique opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and administrative skills in a dynamic, student-centered environment.
DUTIES
- Greets and assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner
- Monitors the Student Lounge to ensure a clean, safe, and inclusive space by enforcing lounge policies and performing light cleaning duties as needed
- Supports Locker Rental Program and equipment check-outs
- Answers department phone lines, takes accurate messages, and provides general information
- Performs clerical tasks, including copying, scanning, filing, distributing mail, and data entry
- Assists with the preparation and execution of SLI-sponsored events, workshops, and student organization initiatives
- Runs errands to various departments and locations on campus
- Assists with social media content creation or student engagement efforts as needed
- Opens and closes the lounge area, ensuring all emergency and safety protocols are followed
- Participates in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Available to work up to 20 hours a week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM-8:00 PM
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, and staff
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); comfort with digital tools and platforms is a plus
- Reliable, punctual, and organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable learning new tasks and taking initiative
- Positive Attitude and Professional Experience
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform light physical tasks, including event setup
- Performs opening and closing procedures and follows all UHD emergency procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a current UHD student
- Must have been awarded Federal Work-Study from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
- Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
