SUMMARY:
As a member of the Money Management Center within the broader Student Success Center, the Financial Wellness Peer Mentor serves as a resource and advocate for all ETAMU students. The Financial Wellness Peer Mentor will use learned skills and knowledge to help peers (i.e., active ETAMU students) increase financial knowledge and skills as well as build a positive financial mindset to improve financial behavior.
This position requires an interest in financial wellness as well as the ability to engage with peers. Due to the nature of student engagement and campus events, some evening work will be required. A flexible work week of up to 19 hours will be expected.
Conduct one-on-one financial mentoring sessions with ETAMU students.
Support students in building financial knowledge, skills, mindset, and behaviors.
Maintain accurate, confidential records of session attendance, general topics, and outcomes.
Make appropriate referrals to professional advisors, counseling, or other campus resources when needed.
Create engaging financial wellness resources (handouts, infographics, videos, or interactive tools).
Lead or co-lead group workshops and presentations.
Participate in outreach activities including tabling events, classroom visits, and campus awareness campaigns.
Actively contribute ideas for program improvement.
Complete required training modules and skill-building activities.
Attend weekly team meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.
GPA 2.50+
Holds an active work study permit or is eligible for work study.
Strong interest in financial wellness, personal finance, or helping others succeed.
Comfortable engaging with peers in one-on-one mentoring conversations.
Willingness to present or co-facilitate workshops in front of small groups.
Good listening skills and a supportive, non-judgmental attitude.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing training and program responsibilities.
Note: No prior experience is required. We provide comprehensive training and ongoing support.
