Feed Mill Support Operator FM01

The starting pay for this position is $18.00/hr. with a $1.00 shift increase for second/third shifts. This facility operates to support feed manufacturing and delivery operations for poultry production and may operate on weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as needed to meet customer and operational demands. 

JOB SUMMARY:The Feed Mill Support Operator FM01 is primarily responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized feed mill environment through housekeeping activities both inside and outside the facility. This position supports feed mill operations by performing sanitation and cleanup duties, assisting with ingredient receiving and maintenance functions, operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), handling material movement, and completing required housekeeping documentation. The position plays a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, safety, quality, and compliance with Tyson Foods’ standards. 

Responsibilities:Key responsibilities include maintaining housekeeping standards throughout the feed mill, supporting receiving and maintenance activities, operating PIT equipment, completing required documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety and biosecurity standards.

• Maintain housekeeping throughout the feed mill, including all production floors, stairways, work areas, break areas, restrooms, and exterior grounds.

• Clean feed spills and accumulated materials promptly to maintain safe operating conditions.

• Perform daily sanitation and cleaning of bathrooms, tables, common areas, and designated housekeeping zones.

• Support receiving operations by assisting with unloading ingredients and other incoming materials as needed.

• Assist maintenance personnel with general cleanup, material handling, and assigned support tasks.

• Operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), including forklifts, to move pallets, equipment, materials, and supplies safely throughout the facility.

• Load and unload pallets, supplies, and other materials as directed.

• Move dumpsters and waste containers throughout the facility and coordinate proper disposal of waste materials.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of ingredient receiving areas, warehouse areas, and exterior service locations.

• Complete required housekeeping inspections, documentation, and daily sign-off paperwork accurately and timely.

• Respond to housekeeping and cleanup needs throughout the facility while prioritizing safety and operational requirements.

• Be available for call-in assignments, including unloading grain trains and supporting receiving operations during off-hours as needed.

• Perform routine operational checks on housekeeping equipment and report maintenance concerns to supervision.

• Work safely around moving machinery, mobile equipment, elevated work areas, and active feed manufacturing processes.

• Follow and operate within all Tyson Foods health, safety, quality assurance, environmental, and biosecurity protocols.

• Effectively communicate with Operations, Maintenance, Drivers, Contractors, and other team members verbally and in writing where required.

• Manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements: Must be willing and able to perform the following:

• Must be willing and able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves, and steel-toed shoes.

• Must be willing and able to work in hot, cold, wet, dry, dusty, humid, noisy, and outdoor environments.

• Must be willing and able to work in areas with significant exposure to feed dust and airborne particles.

• Must be willing and able to work holidays, weekends, flexible schedules, and call-in assignments as required by operational demands.

• Must be willing and able to work in elevated areas and climb ladders and stairs frequently throughout the shift.

• Must follow all Tyson biosecurity policies and procedures, including signing and complying with Company Biosecurity Guidelines and restrictions regarding contact with avian species.

• Must be willing and able to maintain housekeeping standards throughout all assigned interior and exterior areas.

• Must be willing and able to lift up to 60 lbs. independently and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.

• Must be willing and able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and sustain physical activity throughout the workday.

• Must be willing and able to read, complete, and sign required paperwork and perform basic computer tasks.

• Must be willing and able to safely operate forklifts and other approved material handling equipment.

Requirements. Must have at least 6 months operator experience with various types of power industrial vehicles.

External Education and Experience:Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Must possess basic reading, writing, math, communication, and computer skills. Must be able to accurately complete housekeeping documentation and required paperwork. Preferred: Previous experience in feed mill operations, manufacturing, sanitation, housekeeping, warehousing, agriculture, maintenance support, material handling, or related industrial environments. Experience operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), forklifts, and working in production environments is preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, organization, and safety.

Rehire Criteria:

·       Former Tyson Team Members must be separated from the company for a minimum of 180 calendar days.

·       Also, if you have worked at Tyson 3 times or more you will not be eligible for rehire.
