JOB TITLE: FELLOW ENGINEER
DUTIES
Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical
fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated
technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or
oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise
in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the
external world.
Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which
can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules,
budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work
performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues,
managers and oversight groups.
Prepare reports for external publication.
Work Hours: Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including
5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9
hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each
workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be
utilized at the discretion of the Design Authority Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience. OR A
MS degree and 12 years' experience. OR A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience.
Experience/Skills: Considered an internal expert in area of expertise. Contributes to advancing
knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and
professional society presentations. Can solve complex problems in field.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q” security clearance. An
active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected
candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.

These responsibilities and qualifications are in addition to the provided Human
Resources approved position description. The original position description should not

Additional Duties
- Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.
- Primary responsibilities include:
- Engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output
documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping and
Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists;
Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis;
Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation;
Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC
Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices to develop solutions for a variety of
complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of

requirements
- Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures.
Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

- Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility
Level Clearance with DOE / NNSA.
- Please note – Travel cannot take place until it has been approved by procurement
via a fully funded requisition and added to the Task Order Authorization. A
justification, travel locations, estimated cost, and dates of travel must be provided
prior to procurement approval. SRNS will not reimburse for travel to conferences or
trainings. Please remember, all rates are fully burdened and should include all costs
outside of direct business travel.
